Melissa W. Buckley
Clerk of the Board of Supervisors
Melissa Buckley was appointed by the Board of Supervisors in January 2009 to serve as the Navajo County Clerk of the Board. She began her service with Navajo County in 1994 as a computer operator in the Assessor’s Office, and has held positions within the Clerk of the Superior Court, Public Health Services District, Superior Court-Division I, and Administration.
Melissa is the Vice-President of the Arizona County Clerks Association, is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Arizona Municipal Clerks Association, Election Officials of Arizona and the Arizona Association of Counties. In January 2020, Melissa was appointed by Governor Doug Ducey to the Constable Ethics, Standards and Training Board (CESTB) for the State of Arizona.
The office of Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is the official records keeper for Navajo County. Melissa is responsible for planning, directing, implementing and achieving department strategic goals and objectives related to the department’s mission. She provides statutory and policy-related services for the Board of Supervisors, other County Agencies, special districts, and the general public. As the Clerk of the Board, Melissa has implemented new policies and procedures which have streamlined the agenda process, public records requests, the tax deeded land sales and records management within Navajo County. Melissa and her team serve Navajo County citizens with the highest level of customer service.
Melissa received her Certified Public Management certification and her Certified Municipal Clerk certification through Arizona State University. Melissa has also received her Arizona County Clerks certification.
Melissa has been a resident of Navajo County all of her life. She and her husband, Wayne, have five children and enjoy attending their extracurricular activities.
