Mission

The three-fold mission of the public health emergency preparedness program is:

  • To provide for the surveillance of infectious disease processes, differentiate between the disease and infectious outbreaks of natural causes, and those of suspect or confirmed bioterrorist nature in Navajo County
  • To educate and train county public health staff, area health care professionals, and associated tribal healthcare counterparts. To provide timely information of public health concerns to the general public.
  • To develop and maintain county response capabilities to bioterrorist events in coordination with established county, tribal, and state emergency management systems.
