For anyone conducting work within or interacting with a Public Right of Way (ROW) in Navajo County; a Right of Way Use Permit is required. The ROW refers to the easement or fee title dedication a road in its entirety and contains the travel surface, shoulders, recovery zone, drainage, and back slope.
The permit will identify rules and requirements for conducting work within a public right of way. When working on a County Maintained Road, this will also coordinate with our Highway Maintenance Team for installing culverts, review for adding a new access, installing mailboxes, events, or special usages. Permits also help to keep our crews informed about what work they can expect to see or have to schedule around.
Traffic Control Plans are specific detail plans depicting where signs will be located, how traffic will be routed, and identify any controlling measures. Part 6 of the Manual of Uniformed Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) has both information and example traffic control measures.
ROW Use Forms
We recommend printing out and reading the Specifications and Detail pages. These ae the conditions set forth for any work being down within public ROW.
