Property Tax Calendar

Below are times and events that are pertinent to property tax events in Navajo County

Time Event
September The current year tax bills are mailed to the current owner of record in late September early October. It is important to notify the Treasurer or the Assessor if you have a change of address, or new e-mail, to ensure prompt delivery of the tax statement. Tax notices are not forwarded. Please note that the Treasurer is not required to send a tax bill; the notice is mailed as a courtesy to taxpayers.  Mortgage companies will contact the Treasurer to obtain the information required for processing a payment, only one original tax bill is mailed each year.
October The first half taxes are payable on the first day of October. Taxpayers will not be penalized if the payment carries a postmark of November 1st. Failure to receive a tax statement is not a legal reason for waiving interest. 
November The first half taxes become delinquent if not paid by 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 1st of each year. Taxpayers will not be penalized if the payment carries a postmark of Nov. 1st. Each tax payer is responsible for paying the taxes due. Penalty for late payment is an annual 16% prorated monthly as of the first day of the month in accordance with ARS 42-18053. Interest cannot be waived. Taxpayers also has the option to pay Full year tax amount by Dec. 31st with no interest or penalty on first half taxes due Nov. 1st. 
December
Taxes under $100.00 and full year property tax payments may be paid in full by December 31st without interest or penalty. Taxpayers will not be penalized if the payment carries a postmark of December 31st. (*Delinquent after 5:00pm December 31st will incur interest from November 1st) 
A delinquent notice will be mailed in early December for the prior year taxes that remain unpaid. Property owners are notified that property with delinquent taxes will be offered at a Tax Lien Sale if unpaid. It is important to notify the Assessor if you have a change of address to ensure prompt delivery of any delinquent tax notice.
January The date is set for the Online Tax Lien Sale to be held in February and a list of property with prior years' delinquent taxes to be offered at the Online Tax Lien Sale will be published in the Holbrook Tribune for the required amount of time, (copies may be purchased from the Holbrook Tribune). Advertising begins in January.
February The Online Tax Lien Sale will be open to the public for purchase of Tax Lien Certificates. Bidders must be registered prior to the sale in order to bid on the property.
March The second half taxes are payable on the first day of March.
May The second half taxes become delinquent if not paid by 5:00 p.m. on May 1st of the following year. Taxpayers will not be penalized if the payment carries a postmark of May 1st. A delinquent notice will be mailed for the second half and prior year taxes that remain unpaid.
June Subsequent taxes are due for existing tax liens.
August Navajo County Board of Supervisors approve Tax Rates and Levies for the current tax year. It is important to notify the Assessor prior to August if you have a change of address to ensure prompt delivery of the tax statement.
