Meth, Knives and Rattlesnakes... Unique Bust for NCSO

Holbrook, AZ- On Thursday, March 9th, MCAT Detectives concluded a lengthy investigation into two suspects that are alleged to be selling methamphetamine in the Pinetop-Lakeside area.

The suspects are identified as Terry Daugherty and his current girlfriend Jeanette Smith.

A search warrant was obtained for their residence located at 1754 Juniper Drive in Lakeside. Numerous items of drug paraphernalia was located along with 12 rattlesnakes inside a back shed on the property.

Prior to the search warrant Terry and Jeanette were stopped and found to be in possession of approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sale. 

Officers from the Arizona Game and Fish Department responded to the location of the search warrant and conducted an investigation into Mr. Daugherty raising the snakes illegally.  Eight of the snakes were confiscated from the residence. 

Both suspects were booked into the Navajo County Jail Annex for the following charges.

  • Prohibited possessor of a weapon.
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Jeanette Smith

  • Possession of a dangerous drug for sale.
  • Possession of a dangerous drug. 
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia.
