Investigation of Plague Case

Navajo County Public Health officials have confirmed a case of human plague (Yersinia pestis) in the County. The public health investigation is ongoing and there are no known additional exposures.

Navajo County Regional COVID-19 Update

As of July 17, there have been 4,669 COVID-19 cases in Navajo County. Alongside IHS providers, Little Colorado Medical Center and Summit Healthcare have provided care to residents in need.  Below is an update from these hospital systems regarding their current capacity and capabilities, as well as an update from the Navajo County Public Health District.

Broadband Grant Award for Schools and Libraries in Navajo County

The Navajo-Gila Information Technology Education Consortium has been awarded $715,760 from the Universal Service Administrative Co. (USAC), the non-profit designated by the FCC to administer funds to help deliver broadband and connectivity to areas of need.  The State has also contributed $51,000 to meet required local matching funds for the project which will benefit 6 school districts and 10 libraries.

Navajo County Supervisors approve FY2021 Tentative Budget

The Navajo County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the FY2021 Tentative Budget during the regular Board meeting on July 7.  This year’s budget focuses on the County’s ability to maintain services and continue responding to public health emergencies without an increase to the primary property tax rate.

Navajo County Calls on Residents to Help Prevent Spread of COVID-19

On June 17, 2020 Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued Executive Order 2020-40 “Containing the spread of COVID-19”. This order provides updated requirements for Businesses, Bars and Restaurants and additionally allows a city, town or county to mandate the wearing of face coverings in public to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 based on local conditions within jurisdiction.
