Holbrook, AZ – Navajo County has been awarded a $261,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) to conduct a multimodal transportation study on SR 260 between Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside. USDOT provides funding for ‘multimodal’ or ‘complete streets’ studies which incorporate different modes of transportation alongside traditional vehicle traffic. The 16-mile segment corridor between Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside was selected for the study due to the opportunity and existing need for safe alternative forms of transportation that include sidewalks, trails, bicycle lanes, and additional access to public transit. Completion of a multimodal study is a prerequisite to obtaining future grants for project construction.
